The artwork of Petros Martin represents an effort of over thirty years. Free of most links and associations with his contemporary peers, nevertheless his artwork is absorbed in modernism and show sophisticated technique. Clearly his work is motivated by a background of sensitive insight. The paintings prominently display images of relentless energy and mastery of line. Vibrancy of color is layered upon sculptural frameworks of human forms. His work provides a view of emotional import which one cannot easily avoid. This concern for the interrelationship of humanity is critically sensed throughout the evaluation of his oeuvre. Here the artist appears as companion and strives to relate urgent vital meanings.
For Petros' voice is visual. He honours what is fundamentally honourable, respects what is most fine and, above all, reveres what is tenderly human. Petros' work will never be anything less than the recognition of such tenderness and it is this honesty which is revealed with each caress of his brush.
